Setting Up Menus & Navigation
Good navigation helps visitors quickly find what they need. In WordPress, menus control the links in your header, footer, and sometimes sidebars.
Step 1: Create a Menu
- In the WordPress Dashboard, go to Appearance → Menus (or Appearance → Editor in newer themes).
- Click Create New Menu.
- Give it a name (e.g., “Main Menu”).
Step 2: Add Pages to Your Menu
- Select your pages (Home, About, Services, Contact).
- Click Add to Menu.
- Drag and drop items to reorder them.
👉 Tip: You can also add custom links (like external URLs or a “Book Now” button).
Step 3: Assign the Menu
- Under Menu Settings, choose where the menu displays (e.g., Primary Menu for the header).
- Save your menu.
Step 4: Editing with Elementor (Optional)
If your theme uses an Elementor header template:
- Go to Templates → Theme Builder → Header.
- Drag in the Nav Menu widget.
- Select your menu from the dropdown.
- Style it (fonts, colours, hover effects, spacing).
Using Design Kits & Menus
💡 If you imported a Design Kit, your pages (About, Services, Contact, etc.) may already exist. Just:
- Check the menu in WordPress → it may already include demo pages.
- Remove any placeholder/demo pages you don’t need.
- Replace them with your customised pages instead.
This ensures your navigation is clean and relevant.
Quick Recap
- Create a new menu under Appearance → Menus.
- Add your key pages (About, Services, Contact).
- Assign the menu to the header.
- With Design Kits, tidy up demo menus and link them to your real pages.
