Installing a new plugin breaks my website

Plugins are not always perfect. You have installed a new plugin and breaks your WordPress site. The question is, how to fix this.

  1. First thing to try is to disable the plugin within the admin. If you are unsure how to do this, visit our guide.

If you are unable to access the WordPress admin, try the below solution. Please note: You need FTP knowledge. If you are unsure, contact us and we can do it for you.

  1. First, login to your hosting via your FTP client. We recommend Filezilla.

  2. Navigate to your WordPress plugin folder: /wp-contents/plugins/ and rename the plugin folder of the plugin that you recently installed. Just add -bk to the end of the name. Once this is done, the plugin will automatically deactivate itself. Try and test your website, in most cases, it should be working again.
